The program consists of 4 stept; Basic traffic course, Basic training
, Proficiency in traffic
and Final training
.Step 1; The Basic Traffic Course.
In step 1, the basic traffic course, you won’t do any actual driving during the course, but rather educate yourself on the theory behind driving. This happens in a class hosted by a traffic school. This step focuses on understanding risk and how the traffic system works.
The step contains three modules:
- Basic traffic course
- First aid course
- Driving in the dark (demonstration)The basic traffic course is mandatory for everyone younger than 25 years old. The "First aid course" and "Driving in the dark" is mandatory for all, any age.Step 2; The Basic training.
In step two you’re taught how to control the car. You’ll learn everything from changing gear and backing up and the necessary basics (such as how to change the washer fluid). The goal is to make you feel safe and to rely on your own skills before you head out in the traffic.

When the instructor, in dialogue with you, feels like you’re ready for the next step, you’ve to complete an end-of-step assessment lesson. This is a mandatory step and the driving school has to register that you’ve completed this step with the authorities before you can start on step 3.Step 3: Proficiency in traffic.
At step 3, you will learn how to drive in different environments. This includes driving in the city, suburbs and on country roads.
You also need to complete a safety course on a closed practice track. The course lasts for 4 hours and will teach you how to avoid road accidents and how to secure people and cargo in different situations. The course is mandatory and has to be completed.
Just like the previous step, step 3 also has an end-of-step assessment lesson which is mandatory, and has to be passed, before you can start on step 4. Step 4: Final training
Step 4 is the last and final step before your driving exam.
At this step you need to complete the safety course on the road. This course consists of the following parts:
-Risks involved in driving a car.
-Driving on country roads,
-Planning a drive with a set course and do the drive in a varied environment, including a reflection and summary session.
The course lasts for a total of 13 hours.
